The C-58 is a former U.S. Navy minesweeper (USS Harlequin) used during World War II. It was intentionally sunk in the 1980s off the coast of Cancun to create an artificial reef. Today, it’s one of the most iconic wreck diving sites in the Mexican Caribbean, rich in marine life and history.

Yes, there are safe, open sections of the ship that allow for light penetration dives. Full wreck penetration is  permitted. Entry depends on your comfort, certification level, and sea conditions, always under guide supervision.

Good buoyancy control is essential, especially inside or near the wreck, to avoid disturbing sediment and ensure your safety. Don’t worry — our instructors will assist with proper weighting and descent control.

We monitor sea conditions daily. If current is too strong, we’ll either change the dive site or reschedule your dive — your safety always comes first.

Water temperatures range from 26–28°C (79–82°F), so a 3mm full wetsuit is recommended for comfort and protection from jellyfish or minor scrapes during the wreck dive.

If it’s been more than 12 months since your last dive, we recommend a refresher dive beforehand. This will help you regain confidence and brush up on key skills, especially before diving deeper or near wreck structures.
