Cenote Dive Experience – Angelita & Car Wash
Dive Two of the Most Iconic and Visually Unique Cenotes in the Riviera Maya
This unforgettable cenote diving tour is perfect for certified divers who want to experience two completely different yet equally impressive underwater environments in a single day. Dive into the enigmatic depths of Cenote Angelita — famous for its deep vertical profile and haunting hydrogen sulfide cloud — and then enjoy the tranquil beauty of Cenote Car Wash, known for its lush aquatic life, stunning sunbeams, and rich vegetation.
What Makes This Dive So Special?
Cenote Angelita is a bucket-list dive site for advanced and adventurous divers. The cenote is a vertical sinkhole that plunges straight down over 200 ft. At about 100 ft, a dense hydrogen sulfide cloud forms a surreal layer that visually separates fresh water from salt water. It feels like diving into another world — eerie, calm, and cinematic. Below the cloud, the environment becomes completely dark, giving you the feeling of descending into a mysterious underworld. It’s a dive like no other, and one that leaves a lasting impression on every diver who experiences it.
Cenote Car Wash, by contrast, offers a wide open area with stunning visibility, allowing divers to admire lily pads from below and enjoy natural light rays that pierce through the water like lasers. You’ll also see submerged tree branches, algae-covered rocks, and possibly freshwater turtles and small fish. During the rainy season, tannic acid from the plants adds a sepia tone that enhances the magical effect of the sunbeams. This cenote is beloved for its natural beauty, relaxing ambiance, and fantastic photo opportunities.
