Snorkeling Cenotes in Riviera Maya
Discover the Magic Beneath the Surface
The Riviera Maya is home to a hidden world unlike anywhere else on Earth — its famous cenotes, crystal-clear freshwater sinkholes formed by collapsed limestone ceilings over thousands of years. These natural wonders are not only sacred to the ancient Maya but also offer one of the most unique snorkeling experiences you can imagine.
Whether you’re a first-time snorkeler or an experienced ocean explorer, cenote snorkeling promises calm waters, exceptional visibility, and surreal landscapes both above and below the surface.

Welcome to our site
Cenotes are natural freshwater pools found throughout the Yucatán Peninsula, created when the limestone ground collapses, exposing underground rivers. Many are partially or fully open, surrounded by lush jungle, while others are inside caverns with dramatic stalactites and magical light effects.
What makes them ideal for snorkeling is the incredible water clarity — often over 100 feet of visibility — and the chance to swim through ancient rock formations, lush aquatic vegetation, and even encounter small fish and turtles.
We’ve carefully selected the most beautiful and accessible cenotes to offer a variety of snorkeling tours, based on depth, environment, and accessibility:
These are open or semi-open cenotes that offer calm, shallow waters with plenty of sunlight — ideal for families, beginners, and photographers. Some are eco-parks that combine fun with nature, and a few even include optional zip lines or horseback riding for a full adventure day.
Cenotes in this category include:
- Casa Cenote (Cenote Manatí) – Snorkel through a lush mangrove channel connected to the ocean.
- Chikin Ha – Explore three different cenotes in one park with optional zip lines and biking.
- Dos Ojos (Snorkel version) – Admire the surface of one of the most iconic cenotes in Mexico with amazing formations.
- Kin Ha & Zapote Eco Parks – Combine snorkeling with zip lines, jungle paths, and more.
🔵 Shallow Dive Cenotes (Open Water Divers with Little Experience)
If you’re interested in diving but still want calm, easy conditions, we also offer shallow dive cenotes that are suitable for Open Water divers with little experience. These allow you to explore deeper areas but still remain within the limits of your certification.
More info is available in the Cenote Diving section of the site.
⚫ Deep Cavern Cenotes (Advanced Divers Only)
These are deep, overhead environment dives, not suitable for snorkeling. Certified Advanced Open Water divers with excellent buoyancy control can explore these magical places such as The Pit, Tajma Ha, Calavera, and others. This section also lives under our Cenote Diving page.

Diving with DeepLife was an absolute joy. We booked after arriving on holiday in Cancun and Eduardo was very helpful and responsive on booking emails and arranging transport. Added bonus was getting photos from Berto to remember our trip. I would completely recommend DeepDive and will definitely use them should we visit Mexico again.

I did 3 dives in one day including one deep dive (The Pit) and two shallow dives at Dos Ojos (The Bat Cave and The Barbie Line). They were all wonderful and unlike anything I have ever seen scuba diving before. The cenotes were beautiful and I hope to come back one day with my son. I would definitely use Deep Life Divers again.
